Client says, "I want to give my husband one of your paintings for Christmas!" A painting is just the ticket.

Step one: You measure and photograph the wall and use Photoshop to find the right size.
They wanted the colour scheme to harmonize with those already in the living room. He likes Jazz and she thinks he might like to have a happy picture. Yes! The Rat Pack!

Step two: You block it out on the canvas.
Step three: A bit more color.
Step four: A bit more color. Hmmm. How red should their smoking jackets be?
Step five: More paint. Hmmm. How "finished" looking should the painting be? Sort of loose and funky, like jazz...
Step six: Deliver the painting.  Oh, the life of an artist. If only they knew how cold my studio was in winter. Heating with wood, painting while wearing gloves without fingertips, a scarf and wooly hat.

Christmas! The painting is hanging and the client is very happy. If only all clients were this easy to please...
Thanks for scrolling! But most of all... thanks to P. L. for the commission!
